Porridge Radio announced details of their new album, Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me, which is set for release on October 18 via Secretly Canadian. The British rockers also confirmed late 2024 and early 2025 tour dates and unveiled “Sick Of The Blues,” the lead single from their forthcoming LP.
Porridge Radio — frontwoman and guitarist Dana Margolin, keyboardist Georgie Scott, drummer/keyboardist Sam Yardley and bassist Dan Hutchins — recorded the follow-up to 2022’s Waterslide, Diving Board, Latter To The Sky earlier this year in Frome with producer Dom Monks. “We’ve always been known as a band who do something very particular and very emotionally intense live, and Dom (Monks) knew how to get that feeling across,” stated the quartet of the first album they were able to record in the same room as the producer.

Dana Margolin was at her wits end when the conclusion of both the relentless touring cycle behind the band’s last album and an intense relationship came during the same period. Margolin poured her emotions into lyrics as part of the compositions developed for Clouds In The Sky They Will Always Be There For Me. “Almost all the songs started out as poems,” she explained of her new process for songwriting. Eventually she found out “in a poem, though” as opposed to music “you can’t hide.”
The painful breakup of her romance inspired “Sick Of The Blues” and other songs on the new record. “A lot of this album is about a more frenetic and desperate kind of love,” added Margolin. “It is about completely losing my sense of self in one relationship, and the deep residue of insecurity and pain that lingered and clouded a new relationship.”
Dana Margolin went on to describe the genesis of the LP’s lead single:
“‘Sick Of The Blues’ is about being heartbroken and taking back some joy, remembering that you’re the source of your own happiness, not someone else, even when you’re hurt and left with a hole in your heart. After being messed around enough, you just want to take back control. I just wanted to let it go, stop letting it consume me. I wanted simplicity, to have fun and remember everything good that could possibly happen. To love wholly, to not take anything too seriously. To have fun with my friends, to remove the tunnel vision and fall in love with my life again.”
