Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Announce New Album ‘Presto’ & Winter Tour 2020
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong will release a new album entitled Presto on January 24. The band will support the record, which is available for pre-order now, with a winter tour that includes Goose as openers on most dates.
The quartet of guitarists Greg Ormont and Jeremy Schon, bassist Ben Carrey and drummer Alex “Gator” Petropulos note Presto was inspired in part by their Halloween and New Year’s Eve shows with themes that have included “Stop Making Cake,” “DisNYE” and many others. “Those shows have been crash courses in learning new ways to play and arrange music,” explained Ormont. “We picked up different techniques from all these different genres that we were able to draw on when writing Presto.”
Presto, PPPP’s fifth studio album, features road-tested material that developed live on stage in front of their The Flock fanbase. “The crowd is like an equal member of the band at this point,” added Ormont. “We really feed off their response and truly value their input, and we can tell right away what works and what doesn’t from their reaction.” So far, the four-piece has unveiled Presto singles “King Kong” and “Dawn A New Day.”
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong begin their 2020 winter tour with Goose at The Marquee in Tempe, Arizona on February 5. The two bands then head to California for shows in Solana Beach, West Hollywood, San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz and San Francisco. From there, PPPP and Goose hit Oregon for concerts in Eugene, Bend and Portland ahead of a performance in Seattle on February 22. Pigeons continue on for gigs in Montana, Utah and Colorado to close out the tour.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 22 at 10 a.m. local time.
