Pigeons Playing Ping Pong shared official video of their “Eminence Front” performance featuring special guest Jimmy Law of Dogs In A Pile. The footage was filmed last Thursday, November 2 at George’s Majestic in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Baltimore-based quartet PPPP are currently on the road with the Asbury Park, New Jersey-bred Dogs In A Pile for the November leg of the former’s fall tour. The 13-minute The Who cover came early during Pigeons Playing Ping Pong’s second set at George’s Majestic.
“Eminence Front” was written by The Who’s Pete Townshend and was included on the band’s 1982 studio album It’s Hard. Pigeons Playing Ping Pong debuted their cover of the song as part of their “The Who Fighters” Halloween run on October 29, 2022. Two additional versions followed earlier this year ahead of the rendition in Fayetteville.
Jimmy Law was up first with a powerful solo before PPPP lead guitarist Jeremy Schon unleashed a torrent of inspired riffage. Law and Schon then interlaced their guitars over a funky base laid down by Pigeons’ rhythm guitarist Greg Ormont, bassist Ben Carrey and drummer Alex Petropulos and eventually built to a huge peak.

Next up for Pigeons Playing Ping Pong and Dogs In A Pile is a Wednesday night show at The ELM in Bozeman, Montana. The run continues through November 19.
