The Emerald Cup :: 12.12 – 13.15 :: Sonoma County Fairgrounds :: Santa Rosa, CA
The 12th annual Emerald Cup drew over 21,000 cannabis enthusiasts and music fans to Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, California December 12 – 13 according to founder Tim Blake. Besides music from Papadosio, Beats Antique, Nahko & Medicine For The People, Rebelution and many others, the festival also featured a variety of cannabis competitions. This year entrants to the competition had to pay a $250 fee to cover the cost of testing their samples for chemicals, pesticides and fungicides. Around 7 percent of the entries had pesticides and 8 percent had microbial issues, all of those were disqualified. Jackson Zenter, aka “Mean Jean” of Laytonville, won the grand prize of a trip to Jamaica thanks to his “cherry limeaid” bud. It was described as sweet and fruity, with a “paint thinner and Bain de Soleil” essence. Photographer Sterling Munksgard captured the action:
