Phosphorescent’s Phosphorescent Covers Randy Newman’s ‘Bad News From Home’ continues. The latest from the project of singer-songwriter Matthew Houck is a cover of Lucinda Williams’ “Big Red Sun Blues.”

Phosphorescent’s “Full Moon Project” sees Houck sharing a choice cover on every full moon through the end of 2022, although Matthew said he’d like to extend the lunar-centric enterprise “for the rest of my natural life.”

Like his May entry — a cover of the Barry and Robin Gibb-penned “To Love Somebody” done in the style of Nina Simone — the Lucinda Williams nod comes on the heels of a lunar eclipse. “Big Red Sun Blues” appears on Lucinda Williams’ 1988 self-titled album.
