The Disco Biscuits closed a two-night run at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Saturday with a special Halloween screening of the 1988 Tim Burton film Beetlejuice. Bisco improvised the score to the movie starring Michael Keaton, which made up the entirety of the first set.

Bassist Marc Brownstein, keyboardist Aron Magner, guitarist Jon Gutwillig and drummer Marlon Lewis dressed in black-and-white striped suits like Keaton’s titular character. The improvised score worked in samples of Danny Elfman’s “Beetlejuice (Main Theme).”

The on-the-spot audio accompaniment also incorporated songs from the film with samples and jams on Harry Belafonte’s “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” and “Jump In The Line (Shake Senora).”

Set two followed and opened with “42” segueing into a debut offering of John Carpenter’s “Halloween Theme.” The foursome continued through “Cyclone” and “Morph Dusseldorf,” which included a jam on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” and finished the set with “Shelby Rose.”

The encore paired “Fire Will Exchange” with the conclusion of “42.”

Bisco has scored numerous films live before over the course of their career. Beetlejuice joined prior live-scored performances of Akira, Alice In Wonderland, It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, Koyaanisqatsi, Run Lola Run, Tron, The Fifth Element and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
