In a sure sign Phish tour is quickly approaching, the band unveiled the latest installment of their Live Bait series of live archival compilations. Live Bait Vol. 14 features seven tracks recorded in cities the quartet will play this summer.
Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro picked the tracks that made the cut for this compilation and all Live Bait installments. Live Bait Vol. 14 begins with a gorgeous “Harry Hood” played at The Gorge in George, Washington on August 2, 1997. Guitarist Trey Anastasio asked Lighting Designer Chris Kuroda to turn off the lights which made for a majestic visual at the scenic venue. Next up comes an extended “McGrupp & The Watchful Hosemasters” from October 29, 1998 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

Shapiro went with an underrated “Wolfman’s Brother” played on September 24, 1999 to represent Austin in the compilation. The longest sequence comes in the form of a 39+ minute “Gotta Jibboo” > “Saw It Again” > “Magilla” from July 4, 2000 in Camden, New Jersey.
Live Bait Vol. 14 also features a version of the instrumental “What’s The Use?” recorded in Raleigh on June 25, 2000 as well as a fierce “Runaway Jim” from the band’s Merriweather Post Pavilion concert in Columbia, Maryland on July 9, 1999. The compilation ends with the improv-filled “Tweezer” > “Prince Caspian” segment from Phish’s 2015 Magnaball festival in Watkins Glen, New York.
