Phish shared pro-shot video of “46 Days” from July 11 in Huntsville, Alabama. The concert kicked off the quartet’s 2023 Summer Tour and also marked their debut at The Orion Amphitheater.
“46 Days” was the first song Phish performed following their first hiatus during their one-and-only Saturday Night Live appearance to date on December 14, 2002. Written solely by guitarist Trey Anastasio, the song appears on Phish’s 2002 album, Round Room, which arrived just days ahead of the SNL play.
Following an additional late night television appearance on Letterman, Phish returned to the stage for the first time since October 7, 2000 on New Year’s Eve 2002 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The Round Room rocker, however, saw its concert debut at the second show of 2.0 on January 2, 2003, as per Phish.net, which launched a three-night run at Hampton Coliseum.

The Huntsville 2023 “46 Days” came during the first set and emerged from “Halley’s Comet,” one of a number of space-themed songs the band played in Rocket City. Read an excerpt from JamBase’s coverage of the show:
McConnell and Anastasio added accents to their “Halley’s” vocals, once more displaying their enthusiasm to be back on the road. Unfortunately, the trip to the “central part of town” was a quick one as Phish finished the Richard “Nancy” Wright-penned song sans jam. Instead, Trey kicked off “46 Days” and the band swiftly painted outside the lines. Anastasio utilized a thick tone in setting up the rhythm. The guitarist then went with a more distorted sound as he lead his bandmates on a ride to a potent climax.
