Peter Rowan & Sam Grisman Project Reveal Special Guests For Old & In The Way Tribute At The Ryman

Peter Rowan and Sam Grisman Project will perform the music of Old & In The Way and more at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on January 9, 2025. The show, which marks the Sam Grisman Project’s Ryman debut, will feature an impressive array of special guests including Sam Bush, Tim O’Brien, Jerry Douglas and Lindsay Lou.

Ronnie McCoury and Rob McCoury of the Del McCoury Band and The Travelin’ McCourys will also make guest appearances at the special show. The expanded Sam Grisman Project lineup for the night will find Sam Grisman joined by Alex Hargreaves, Chris J. English, Dominick Leslie, John Mailander, Logan Ledger, Max Flansburg, Nat Smith and Victor Furtado.

Peter Rowan was a member of Old & In The Way, a groundbreaking bluegrass group that also included famed mandolinist David Grisman. Rowan teamed with David Grisman’s son Sam Grisman and the SGP for shows honoring the legacy of Old & In The Way earlier this year.

“To say that I am honored to make this particular announcement is probably the understatement of the decade, but it is my great pleasure to announce that on January 9th, 2025, we will be heading to the Mother Church of country music, The Ryman Auditorium, with the great Peter Rowan and some VERY special guests,” Sam Grisman wrote on Instagram when the show was announced.

“We’ll be playing music from Old & in The Way, and exploring Peter’s other musical universes, as well as songbooks of my father [David Grisman] and his dear friend [Jerry Garcia],” Grisman added. “Celebrating Peter’s catalog and his musicality has been the highlight of my year, and getting to curate an evening of Old & In The Way music and so much more, with a cavalcade of friends and heroes on the sacred stage at Ryman, seems like the most spectacular start we could have drawn up for 2025.”
