Pearl Jam returned to Palau Sant Jordi on Monday to finish up a two-show stand in Barcelona. The rockers brought up a fan from the audience, Carlos, to perform the classic “Yellow Ledbetter.”

PJ’s Barcelona run marked the band’s first concerts back after having to cancel three shows in London and Berlin due to a “frightening” illness which frontman Eddie Vedder detailed during night one at Palau Sant-Jordi. The finale in the Spanish city saw the band welcoming Carlos for “Yellow Ledbetter” during the encore.

As he was thanking the audience, Ed pointed toward the crowd and said, “You really know how to play guitar? Like that?” as guitarist Mike McCready played around with the “Ledbetter” intro. Vedder then motioned for Carlos to come up with guitarist Stone Gossard handing him an axe.

Carlos then proceeded to play the intro flawlessly and stuck around for the whole song to close the concert. Watch below:

Pearl Jam kicked off the show with “Oceans” from their 1991 debut album Ten. PJ would dip evenly from their first album and their latest, Dark Matter, at six songs a piece performing favorites from the former such as “Even Flow,” “Black” and “Alive” and standouts from the former including “Running,” “Waiting For Stevie” and “Wreckage.”

The band also offered two tour debuts during the concert: “½ Full” off 2002’s Riot Act and “Who Ever Said” from the band’s 2020 album Gigaton. Additionally, the eventful encore also boasted Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” with openers The Murder Capital ahead of “Yellow Ledbetter” with Carlos.

Pearl Jam is set to perform at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid on Thursday. Scroll down for PJ’s full tour routing with ticket info.
