While still listed as a “guest host,” Chris Thile will sometime soon permanently take over hosting duties of A Prairie Home Companion from Garrison Keillor, the long-running show’s current host and creator of the public radio program. Thile will guest host two upcoming episodes and he has announced the guests for the live tapings, with legendary singer-songwriter Paul Simon among the newly confirmed acts.

Thile will first host the show on January 30 with guests Brandi Carlile, Ben Folds and Sarah Jarosz, as well as Thile’s fellow Punch Brothers group members. A week later, on February 6 Thile will welcome Paul Simon and Andrew Bird, along with most of the Punch Brothers and Sarah Jarosz. Both shows will take place at the Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul, Minnesota, starting at 4:45 p.m. CT.

Thile is also slated to appear on the January 23 Keillor-hosted episode of A Prairie Home Companion with Gillian Welch & David Rawlings and Heather Masse, taking place at the San Diego Civic Theatre in San Diego. A full list of stations carrying A Prairie Home Companion is available via this link. The program airs live every Saturday from 5 – 7 p.m. CT on the web at the APHC website and through several participating apps.
