Jamtronica act Papadosio will host their annual winter gathering Earth Night V on December 19. Today the band revealed TAUK and Thundercat will join them as openers at the Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia.
Currently touring in support of their recently issued album Extras In A Movie, Papadosio first held Earth Night in 2009 and it expanded in 2012 in conjunction with the Mayan calendar. Here’s how the band describes the genesis of the winter solstice weekend celebration:
While the first official Earth Night dates back to 2009, the larger vision was introduced on December 21st, 2012 when Columbus, Ohio suddenly became a place to be at the Mayan calendar’s End of Time. Since that stormy winter night, our world has thankfully continued and meanwhile Earth Night has grown with every installment, offering a delectable variety of flavor, purpose and tone. Stacked with an internationally acclaimed line-up of artists, musicians, and presenters – this celebration of the environment, cultural heritage, music, art and dance has become one of the most beloved winter-time gatherings in the land.
In addition to the Earth Night V event at the Tabernacle on December 19 with TAUK and Thundercat, an Earth Night pre-party will be held on December 18 at Terminal West at King Plow in Atlanta featuring a live Papadosio PA set. More information, including ticket purchasing, can be found at the Earth Night V website.
