Oasis Weathers Storm To Start 1st North American Tour Since 2008 In Toronto

Oasis began the North American leg of their Live ’25 reunion tour on Sunday with the first of two shows at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium. The band led by siblings Liam and Noel Gallagher didn’t let rain and wind stop them from treating the capacity crowd of 55,000 to a full 23-song concert.

The Gallagher brothers along with bandmates guitarists Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell and drummer Joey Waronker ran through the same setlist they used for the UK leg that kicked off their first tour in 16 years. Oasis was accompanied by keyboardist Christian Madden and a three-piece horn section (trombonist Alastair White, saxophonist Steve Hamilton and trumpeter Joe Auckland) at various points of the night.

After opening with “Hello,” Oasis delivered a show comprised solely of pre-2000 material except for “Little By Little.” The group played such favorites as “Morning Glory,” “Cigarettes & Alcohol” and “D’You Know What I Mean?” before the sudden downpour started during “Stand By Me.”

“It’s only a bit of rain, man,” Liam Gallagher exclaimed he pulled up the hood on his jacket. “We’re from Manchester!”

Oasis moved forward with the show and lit into “Cast No Shadow.” Next up was “Slide Away” and a “Whatever” featuring a taste of the Beatles’ “Octopus’ Garden” within the outro. Hits “Live Forever” and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” wrapped the main set.

After introducing the band, “The Masterplan” opened the encore. Noel then fronted “Don’t Look Back In Anger” before Liam was back on lead vocals for beloved classics “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova” to end the concert.

Oasis returns to Rogers Stadium tonight. The North American leg ends on September 13 in Mexico City. Dates in England, Asia, Australia and South America follow.
