Oasis Kicks Off Reunion Tour In Wales With Hits-Filled Concert

After a 16-year breakup, Oasis finally launched their reunion tour on Friday (July 4) at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The band led by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher focused on their most well-known material throughout the 23-song concert performed in front of a capacity crowd of 62,000 fans.

Liam and Noel were backed by guitarists Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs and Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell, drummer Joey Waronker, keyboardist Christian Madden, backing vocalist Jessica Greenfield and a three-piece horn section comprised of trombonist Alastair White, saxophonist Steve Hamilton and trumpeter Joe Auckland. Arthurs, a co-founder of Oasis, hadn’t performed with the band since 1998.

Fittingly, Oasis opened their first show since 2009 with “Hello” before Liam and Noel traded vocals on “Acquiesce.” The group went heavy on cuts from their mid-1990s heyday, including six songs featured on 1994’s Definitely Maybe and eight off 1995’s (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?. They also fit it b-sides from singles featured on those albums.

Oasis’ post-(What’s The Story) Morning Glory? was only represented by “D’You Know What I Mean?” and “Stand By Me” from 1997’s Be Here Now along with “Little By Little” off 2002’s Heathen Chemistry. The concert spanned over two hours and was a massive singalong as the sold-out audience helped belt out such beloved favorites as “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” “Supersonic,” “Live Forever” and “Rock ‘N’ Roll Star.” The band dedicated “Live Forever” to Liverpool soccer player Diogo Jota just days after his tragic death.

The encore started with “The Masterplan.” Oasis then rolled through hits “Don’t Look Back In Anger,” “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova” to end the concert.

Oasis continues their Live ’25 Tour on Friday, July 11 with their first of three shows in Manchester, England. The North American leg starts on August 24 in Toronto.
