Oasis Plays 1st Show Of Reunion Tour With Bonehead Fill-In Mike Moore

Earlier this month, guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs announced he would step away from Oasis’ reunion tour to undergo treatment for cancer. The band took the stage last night in South Korea for their first concert with the co-founding member’s fill-in, guitarist Mike Moore.

Oasis embarked on their first tour in 16 years in July, which saw brothers Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher joined by Bonehead for the first time since 1998. The co-founding guitarist is also expected to miss Oasis’ shows in Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.

“Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer,” Bonehead revealed weeks ago. “The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour. Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November.”

Along with Moore, others performing alongside Liam and Noel last night at Goyang Stadium near Seoul included guitarist Gem Archer, bassist Andy Bell, drummer Joey Waronker and keyboardist Christian Madden. Moore has previously contributed to Liam Gallagher’s solo projects.

While not physically onstage with Oasis, Bonehead’s bandmates propped a cardboard cutout of the guitarist near his typical stage placement. The setlist remained constant in structure with the rest of the tour, with South Korean fans treated to the band’s best-known songs like “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” “Supersonic,” “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘N’ Roll Star,” “Wonderwall,” “Champagne Supernova” and many others.
