O.A.R. kicked off a two-night stand at New York City’s The Rooftop at Pier 17 on Thursday as Billy Joel closed out his record-breaking MSG residency across town. The Maryland-based rockers paid tribute to the Piano Man by premiering a take on the Billy Joel classic “Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway)” at Pier 17.

“Miami 2017 (Seen The Lights Go Out On Broadway)” was the show opener for Billy Joel last night but O.A.R. played the cover debut as the penultimate song of their main set. Touring member Mikel Paris was showcased on sax while frontman Marc Roberge capably sang the tune from Joel’s 1976 album, Turnstiles.

Turntablist DJ Logic returned to the stage after opening the night to augment O.A.R. on “Anyway” and “That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker” at the start of the encore. Brady Watt also sat in on both songs. The headliners said farewell with their recently debuted cover of Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.”
