NOISE POP OPENING NIGHT

By Team JamBase Feb 14, 2007 12:00 am PST

Noise Pop has been holding back the news about their opening night event but now with the festival a mere two weeks away they’re ready to pull back the curtain. Last year, The Flaming Lips jump-started 2006 with an unforgettable show at Bimbo’s for Noise Pop Badge Holders and a lucky few hundred that were able to purchase tickets. 2007 is Noise Pop’s 15th year anniversary, so they’ve put together something special. In conjunction with their partner FREEDM, Noise Pop 2007 will kick-off with a one of a kind FREE party for Badge Holders, music industry and fans that combines live music, art, comedy and all kinds of interactive features called FREEDM Night.

The Noise Pop Expo, a new event this year, will be a two-day mini-conference held on March 3rd and 4th, 2007, which encompasses panel discussions, live music performances, a local designer fair / trunk sale, and a rock poster art show all mixed in with booths from music and technology businesses. The Noise Pop Expo will offer music industry and fans a chance to shop, check out acoustic performers, and participate in some lively discussions, while enjoying a little hair of the dog in advance of Noise Pop’s weekend shows. The Noise Pop Expo will take place at the Swedish American Hall (2174 Market Street, upstairs from Café Du Nord) on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4 from 1 to 6pm.

2ND ANNUAL POP AND SHOP
2006 saw launch of the Pop & Shop, a Noise Pop flavored indie design fair / trunk sale. It was a huge success. This year the Pop & Shop returns as a featured element of the Noise Pop Expo. Pop & Shop will feature the best local artists and designers selling unique clothing, jewelry and accessories.

THE ART OF NOISE POP
The Expo will also include the Noise Pop Poster Show – with original limited-run screen printed posters by local artists including Lil Tuffy, Justin Walsh, Noise Pop 15th Anniversary artist Jason Munn (The Small Stakes), and more from Noise Pop festivals past and present on display and on sale at reasonable prices.

MUSIC INDUSTRY, TECHNOLOGY AND CULTURE TRADE BOOTHS
The Noise Pop Expo will showcase cutting-edge businesses, whose visionary products and services are transforming how we create, discover and interact. These cutting edge companies will explain their vision and how they plan to redefine the relationship between music, culture, and technology.

INDIE NIGHT SCHOOL PANEL DISCUSSIONS
For the second year, Noise Pop has teamed up with New York City’s Indie Night School to explore the many aspects of running a band independently. Indie Night School is one of the best resources out there for musicians and music biz professionals. A vital cross-section of independent artists, managers, booking agents, and others will be gathering at the Swedish American Hall over the two days of the Expo for lively and informative discussions about various aspects of the music business.
