NIVA Announces Jim James & Jimmy Jam As 2025 Conference Speakers

The My Morning Jacket frontman and iconic music industry entrepreneur will each speak at the National Independent Venue Association’s gathering in Milwaukee.

The National Independent Venue Association’s annual conference will be held in Milwaukee from June 22 – 25. The organization’s fourth annual gathering will span four days of programming and live music, highlighting the vital, interconnected relationship between artists, fans, local communities and the independent live music scene.

NIVA ’25’s Opening Party will feature a special conversation with My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James. The conference will keep it all in the Js on Tuesday, June 24 by hosting a “fireside chat” with music industry icon Jimmy Jam.

Presented by Eventim See Tickets, the Opening Party is set for Sunday, June 22 at the famed Pabst Theater. This gathering will unite live music industry professionals and performing artists Jim James will share insights from My Morning Jacket’s evolution from playing clubs to headlining major venues and festivals, emphasizing the collective commitment to live music’s authenticity, power and transformative nature.

Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Jimmy Jam will headline Tuesday afternoon’s programming with an intimate fireside conversation. The renowned producer and songwriter will offer perspectives from his illustrious career, touring experiences and vision for the industry’s future.

“I grew up playing in small clubs, which was the foundation of my career. It’s important that the ecosystem survives for artists to connect with fans,” noted Jimmy Jam.

The conference will blend live performances with curated panel discussions, celebrating the vital partnership between touring musicians and independent venues. Live List 2025 artist Elizabeth Moen and Ladybird will perform Monday evening, June 23, at the Brew City Bash hosted at The Rave.

Additional musical highlights include performances by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Shawn Mullins, Kyle Kinane and other notable acts. NIVA attendees will enjoy complimentary access to Summerfest performances and exclusive behind-the-scenes venue tours.
