Yo La Tengo brought their tour in support of their recently issued album Stuff Like That There to Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York Saturday night and were joined by Nick Lowe during their performance. Lowe served as the evening’s opener and emerged later during the headlining band’s encore to assist on two songs.
Expanding to a quartet for this tour with the addition of former member Dave Schramm on guitar – who was recruited for the recording of Stuff Like That There – last night’s set featured several cuts from the new LP, such as The Special Pillow’s “Automatic Doom,” Antietam’s “Naples,” Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Butchie’s Tune” and The Cure’s “Friday I’m In Love” as well as originals “Awhileaway” and “Deeper Into Movies.”
English singer-songwriter Nick Lowe opened the concert, performing a solo set before returning during Yo La Tengo’s encore to help out on The Left Banke’s “Walk Away Renée” and his own “Bay City Rollers We Love You.” Footage of Lowe’s sit-in was captured by YouTube user chrisfg71, watch below:
