Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit Join Newport Folk Festival 2023 Lineup
The band will perform at Fort Adams State Park on Saturday, July 29.

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit are latest addition to the Newport Folk Festival 2023 lineup. The beloved event returns to the scenic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island July 28 – 30.
While Jason Isbell teamed with wife/fiddler Amanda Shires and 400 Unit guitarist Sadler Vaden for a performance at Newport’s Folk On! in 2021, the full band last played the event back in 2018. Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit’s set at this year’s Newport Folk Festival will take place on Saturday, July 29.
The Newport Festivals Foundation will provide a grant to the band program at Isbell’s alma mater — Rogers High School — in Florence, Alabama on the group’s behalf. The grant will be used to buy new sheet music and provide students with instruments.
John Oates featuring Guthrie Trapp, Turnpike Troubadours and Dawn Landes & Friends also recently joined the 2023 Newport Folk Festival lineup. Others set to play the storied event this summer include Billy Strings, Goose, Caamp, Maggie Rogers, Angel Olsen, Los Lobos and more. Additional artist announcements are coming soon.
