Philadelphia livetronica act Lotus is gearing up for a big 2016. Today, as the band prepares to play a hometown show at the Electric Factory this evening, Lotus has released a new single. Billboard premiered “Eats The Light” as part of a feature that includes lots of Lotus news.

Billboard reveals the band will release an as-yet-untitled studio album in the spring and for the first time in Lotus history all of the tracks on the LP will feature vocals. Gabe Otto of Pan Astral provides the vocals on “Eats The Light,” while Billboard notes Mutlu and Steve Yutzy-Burkey contributed vocals for the other tracks on the forthcoming album. “We just wanted to have an album that felt unified in that way. We like writing songs for singers, but since it’s not a big part of our live show it’s never something that we’ve ever gone all in on for a full album. To me it felt like natural progression from other things we’re doing. It’s not that much different than bringing somebody in to play a saxophone. You can still hear that Lotus sound; It never feels to me like it’s Lotus featuring somebody else,” Jesse Miller told Billboard.

In addition to the new album, Lotus will release their first live DVD, which was recorded during September of 2014, later this year. The Billboard report also includes word Lotus will tour “heavily during the fall.” Listen to the new Lotus single “Eats The Light” which is available for purchase via Bandcamp:
