New Festival Alert: Infamous Stringdusters Announce The New England Festy

By Scott Bernstein Jun 15, 2016 6:18 am PDT

After seven years in Virginia jamgrass act The Infamous Stringdusters are expanding their The Festy events to New England with the launch of The New England Festy. The inaugural New England Festy will take place at Prowse Farm in Canton, Massachusetts September 17 – 18.

Curators The Infamous Stringdusters will be joined at The New Englad Festy by Greensky Bluegrass, Josh Ritter, The Wood Brothers, Justin Townes Earle, David Wax Museum, Fruition, Lau, Session Americana, Sierra Hull, Whiskey Shivers and Old Salt Union with additional lineup announcements to come.

The New England Festy comes in addition to the long-running The Festy Experience which will be held at Virginia’s Nelson County Preserve October 7 – 9. “It’s not strictly bluegrass, but it’s a little bit of jamgrass, a little bit of folk, a bit bluesy,” co-producer James MacDonald told Boston.com about the new event. “Boston has never really had its own proper festival that has a bluegrass feel to it. You have to drive a few hours in either direction to go to a Fresh Grass or a Newport Folk [Festival], or other events like that, but Boston is a city that’s hungry for some pickin’.”

Look for an announcement of hands-on activities and active happenings on site soon. Partner Oskar Blues Brewery will be on hand serving up its signature Dale’s Pale Ale and other beers. The net proceeds from the event will go towards Oskar Blues Brewery’s Can’d Aid which supports various community and environmental efforts.
