The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, Macca’s 18th studio album credited solely to Paul McCartney, was recorded over a five-year span during sessions held in Los Angeles and Sussex, England. McCartney played most instruments himself in a throwback to his eponymous 1970 debut solo album.

McCartney looks back on his pre-Beatles Liverpool days on The Boys Of Dungeon Lane, which takes its name from a road that leads from his hometown to the Speke shoreline mentioned in “Days We Left Behind.” Dungeon Lane is not only a real place but serves as a symbolic portal into McCartney’s memories.

“The album really sets up the energy at the heart of this album and the fun that we’ve always had playing together,” Mailhouse stated.

“We couldn’t fucking wait,” Reeves said. “Personally, I loved it all. For me, the attitude was like, ‘let’s work hard and let’s GO.’”

“It felt like our last album was our ticket into a party,” Domrose said. “And now we’ve shown up to the party — the three of us.”

“This album is over a year in the making,” Smith stated. “Without question as a band we pushed ourselves like never before. Especially when it comes to Eric. Myself, Zach, and Barry are so honored to create, and work with such an extraordinary producer, engineer, mixer, songwriter, musician, performer, and bandmate.”

The ensemble quickly forged a chemistry and knack for improvisation displayed on such songs as “Like A Hurricane,” “Vampire Blues” and “Cortez The Killer.” As Time Explodes also includes live performances of some of Young’s most beloved tunes including “Harvest Moon,” “Ohio” and “After The Gold Rush.” A take on the newest Neil Young song, the politically-charged “Big Crime,” is also featured on As Time Explodes.
