Neil Young Releases ‘See The Sky About To Rain’ 1970 Carnegie Hall Recording
The track appears on the first release from the new "Neil Young Official Bootleg Series."
Neil Young shared a recording of “See The Sky About To Rain” captured during his concert at Carnegie Hall on December 4, 1970. The track is part of the initial installment of the new “Neil Young Official Bootleg Series.” An additional five installments in the series are expected in 2022.
Young will release The Neil Young Official Bootleg Series — Carnegie Hall on October 1 through Shakey Pictures Records and Reprise Records. The solo performance featured Young playing acoustic guitar, harmonica and piano, delivering such favorites as “Down By The River,” “Cinnamon Girl,” “Helpless,” “Only Love Can Break Your Heart,” “Old Man,” “After The Gold Rush,” “Cowgirl In The Sand,” “Ohio” and several others. Further details of the performance note:
Carnegie Hall, the first release, recorded on original analog multitrack, was mixed by “The Volume Dealers” – Neil Young and Niko Bolas. This recording was made from the show on December 4th 1970 and it was the first time Neil ever walked onstage at Carnegie Hall.
There were two shows at Carnegie Hall, one on the 4th and one followed at Midnight the next morning. No bootleggers ever captured this first show, and it was, by far, a much superior show according to NY.
