Neil Young & Crazy Horse shared a new song entitled “Break The Chain.” The single comes from the band’s upcoming studio album, World Record, which Reprise Records will make available on November 18.

The album was recorded with producer Rick Rubin at his Shangri-La recording studio in Malibu, California. Co-produced by Neil Young and Rubin, the 10-song follow-up to 2021’s Barn features Young once again accompanied by drummer Ralph Molina, guitarist Nils Lofgren and bassist Billy Talbot. In addition to Barn, Neil Young & Crazy Horse also finally released the “lost” album Toast, which was recorded in 2000 and 2001 and issued earlier this year.

In the video accompanying “Break The Chain,” Young can be heard describing the song as coming from a “COVID mindset.” He also responds to a sarcastic comment about it being an uplifting song by stating, “fuck ’em if they can’t take a joke.”

World Record was previously previewed via the lead single “Love Earth.” Watch Neil Young & Crazy Horse performing the new single “Break The Chain” below:
