Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts capped a one-off, two-show run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Tuesday night. The second concert saw Young make some adjustments to the setlist, which included the live debut of the American Stars ‘n Bars deep cut “Hey Babe.”

Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts made their debut on Saturday at Farm Aid. Young and his bandmates – famed keyboardist Spooner Oldham, guitarist Micah Nelson and the Promise Of The Real rhythm section of bassist Corey McCormick and drummer Anthony LoGerfo – started the show with the same sequence of songs as the first show at The Cap, working through Young classics “I’m The Ocean,” “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere,” “Comes A Time” and “From Hank To Hendrix” but left out “Harvest Moon” ahead of “Unknown Legend.”

“Tumbleweed,” from Young’s 2014 album, Storytone, was then played by The Chrome Hearts for the first time. Another unexpected setlist addition followed with Young leading his first public performance of “Hey Babe.”

Released on Young’s 1977 album American Stars ‘n Bars, “Hey Babe” never entered his live repertoire prior to Tuesday’s concert. Two versions of the song appeared on the recently issued box set, Neil Young Archives Vol. III 1976-1987, on the disc titled “Snapshot In Time (March to December 1977).”

After the deep-cut debut, Young and his cohorts resumed a similar setlist path taken on night one, rumbling through “Journey Through The Past,” “Love Earth,” “Homegrown” and (with Bob Rice on piano) “Big Time.” The Chrome Hearts’ first attempt at “War Of Man” teed up the set-closing pairing of “One Of These Days” and “Powderfinger.” Switching up the song selection once more, the encore consisted of Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts’ premiere offering of “Throw Your Hatred Down.”

Neil Young’s next scheduled performance is on October 5 at the “Harvest Moon” benefit concert at The Painted Turtle camp in Lake Hughes, California supporting The Painted Turtle and The Bridge School.
