On May 20, the massive Day Of The Dead compilation of Grateful Dead tributes will be released via 4AD. Brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National curated the years-in-the-making compilation and their band performed “Morning Dew” off Day Of The Dead on last night’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

While “Morning Dew” was a staple of Grateful Dead live shows from 1967 through Jerry Garcia’s death in 1995, the song was written and first recorded by Canadian folk artist Bonnie Dobson. “Morning Dew” is one of three songs The National contributed to the 59-track Day Of The Dead compilation.
