Wife-and-husband duo Natalie Cressman & Ian Faquini have spent the last few months tending to their newborn, but will return to the stage later this month for a four-show run. The pair previewed their upcoming shows by releasing a live performance video featuring their inventive cover of the Beatles’ “She’s Leaving Home.”
Penned by Paul McCartney and John Lennon for inclusion on the fab four’s iconic 1967 album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, “She’s Leaving Home” is a rare Beatles track recorded without George Harrison and Ringo Starr. McCartney wrote and sang the verse of the haunting ballad and Lennon wrote the chorus, which they sang together.
Natalie Cressman handles the McCartney vocals while Ian Faquini chimes in on the chorus ala Lennon for the twosome’s versions of “She’s Leaving Home.” Faquini taps into his Brazilian heritage by singing the Lennon portion of the chorus in Portuguese.
“She’s Leaving Home” has been a staple of Cressman & Faquini concerts since they first started performing together. The take featured in the video below was filmed at Timeless Gem Studios in Chicago. Ian Faquini provides the lone instrumention on the cover on classical guitar.
