My Morning Jacket celebrated Halloween with their penultimate show of 2025 last night at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre. The band used the opportunity to pay homage to Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne with multiple musical nods to The Prince Of Darkness, who died earlier this year.
Dressed for the celebratory occasion, frontman Jim James, guitarist Carl Broemel, bassist Tom Blankenship, drummer Patrick Hallahan and keyboardist Bo Koster set the tone for the evening by opening with Black Sabbath’s “Black Sabbath.”
Later in the set, MMJ played Black Sabbath’s “Fairies Wear Boots,” which they debuted last month in Brooklyn. As they approached the end of the main set, James and his bandmates tagged “Spring (Among the Living)” with Osbourne’s solo favorite “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”
The encore included a final gesture toward Ozzy Osbourne in the form of My Morning Jacket’s first time covering his explosive song, “Crazy Train.”
“Thank you all for making our Halloween one for the books,” My Morning Jacket shared on social media. “We saw some amazing costumes out there last night. We honored the amazing [Ozzy Osbourne], we hope he heard us!”
The band also noted that, “tonight is the final show of Atlanta, our fall tour, and of 2025, and it’s a Z anniversary show.”
