Karina Rykman Joins My Morning Jacket For Metallica & Black Sabbath Covers In Brooklyn

Following a Z celebration show at Brooklyn Paramount on Thursday, My Morning Jacket delivered two more concerts at the New York City venue both of which saw sit-ins from Karina Rykman. The bassist joined My Morning Jacket for Black Sabbath and Metallica covers as well as MMJ originals.

On Friday, NYC native Karina Rykman emerged toward the end of My Morning Jacket’s main set to add to their “Cobra.” From the song appearing on MMJ’s 2002 Chocolate and Ice EP, the collab rolled into Metallica’s “For Whom The Bell Tolls.” Check out a clip of the latter:

Additional MMJ favorites performed on Friday included “Golden,” “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 1,” “I’m Amazed” and show closer “One Big Holiday.”

My Morning Jacket returned to Brooklyn Paramount to wrap their three night run on Saturday. Rykman sat in once again, this time on the Black Sabbath classic “Fairies Wear Boots.” The Sabbath number followed MMJ’s “Run Thru.” After “Fairies Wear Boots,” the band returned to “Run Thru” with Rykman.

The Brooklyn Paramount finale also saw performances of “Time Waited” and “Touch Me I’m Going to Scream Pt. 2.” My Morning Jacket sealed the show with a cover of George Harrison‘s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth).”
