Watch My Morning Jacket Cover ‘The Ballad Of John And Yoko’ At Peach Festival

My Morning Jacket performed at The Peach Music Festival on Saturday and covered The Beatles’ “The Ballad Of John And Yoko” for the first time. Their headlining set at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania also featured the band busting out a cover of The Rolling Stones’ classic “Happy.”

My Morning Jacket previously covered The Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love,” “Julia” and “Here Comes The Sun” as well as “Dear Prudence” with Bob Weir. MMJ frontman Jim James also recorded an EP of songs by The Beatles’ George Harrison.

The Beatles released the John Lennon-written “The Ballad Of John And Yoko” in 1969 as a standalone single that recounting Lennon and Yoko Ono’s wedding. Lennon and Ono’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, was at The Peach to perform with Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade.

Following The Beatles’ cover debut early in the set, near the end of MMJ’s headlining performance, the band broke out “Happy” by The Rolling Stones, covering the Exile On Main Street song purportedly for the first time since 2015.
