Mountain Man are back with Mountain Man Sings Fiona Apple, the latest installment in a series of covers for Nonesuch Records. The trio featuring Amelia Meath (of Sylvan Esso), Molly Sarlé and Alexandra Sauser-Monnig (Daughter of Swords) took on Apple’s “Hot Knife.”
Fiona Apple originally released “Hot Knife” on her 2012 album, The Idler Wheel…. Mountain Man recorded an a capella version of the tune that has been a staple of the trio’s live performances.

“If we followed Questlove’s advice and made gratitude lists before we went to bed every night, Fiona Apple would be at the top every time,” Mountain Man said in a statement. “She tells the truth like no one else does. Thank you, Fiona Apple. We love you.”
Other covers in Mountain Man’s series include Neil Young's “Through My Sails,” the 1848 Shaker hymn “Simple Gifts,” Kacey Musgraves' “Slow Burn,” Wilco’s “You And I,” and John Denver's “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and “Around & Around.”
