Watch Emma Derhak Join moe.’s Rob Derhak & Al Schnier For Angelic John Prine Cover

moe. guitarist Al Schnier and bassist Rob Derhak brought their “moe.stly Acoustic” run to Portland House of Music and Events in Portland, Maine on Saturday. The duo welcomed Rob’s daughter Emma Derhak for a cover of John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” during their set.

The evening got underway with a set from Portland’s own LEAF. The band consists of Emma Derhak on vocals, bassist Max Jones, guitarist Josh Libby, keyboardist Caleb Vickery and percussionist Eden York. Check out fan-shot video of their full set along with photos below:

The “moe.stly Acoustic” portion of the evening began with Rob Derhak and Al Schnier delivering a pair of moe. staples: Rob’s “Captain America” and Al’s “Bring You Down.” A cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Dead Flowers” came next ahead of the Rob-penned tune “New York City.”

The duo then welcomed Emma for standout cover of the John Prine classic “Angel From Montgomery.” Emma led the duo through the tune off Prine’s landmark 1971 debut album with her dad joining in on the choruses. Rob and Al would go it alone for “Revolving Door” and “Happy Hour Hero” ahead of a 16-minute stripped down exploration of moe. classic “Recreational Chemistry.”

“Ups and Downs” from Rob’s solo pandemic album Songs For Other People came next followed by a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Deal.” The duo then fit “Meat” within “Moth” to close the set before encoring with Rob’s “Tambourine” and Al’s “Downward Facing Dog.”
