As longtime supporters of the American Cancer Society, moe. offered a chance to write a setlist to a fan who donated to the organization’s Rock The Pink campaign. On Sunday (January 21), the band utilized the deep cut-filled setlist crafted by fan Alex Tumlin for the second and final night of their two-night run at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Additionally, moe. brought out bassist Rob Derhak‘s daughter, Emma Derhak, to help sing a fan-favorite as part of Sunday’s second set.
The sextet comprised of Derhak, guitarists Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey, percussionist Jim Loughlin, drummer Vinnie Amico and keyboardist Nate Wilson came out of the gates with the beloved “Timmy Tucker.” The jam vehicle encompassed “Californ IA,” an instrumental that had gone missing since October 23, 2021 — a span of 118 shows as per Phantasy Tour statistics. “Californ IA” and a cover the band would play later continued a trend of geographically-appropriate songs at each show on moe.’s current West Coast tour.

Sunday’s first set resumed with another bust out as moe. dusted off their cover of Jimmy Cliff’s “The Harder They Come” which was last played 226 shows prior on January 11, 2019. Next, Derhak led his bandmates through an expansive “Faker” that bled into Schnier’s “Livin’ Again.” Al Schnier was also spotlighted on the set-closing “Mexico.”
moe. returned to deliver a five-song second set consisting solely of classics dating back to the 1990s. Instrumental “Jazz Wank” gave way to a “Spine Of The Dog” featuring Emma Derhak on lead vocals backed by her dad on harmonies. “Spine Of A Dog” prefaced a wild “Buster” before Chuck Garvey helmed the longest “Four” since its return following the guitarist’s 2021 stroke. A meaty “Waiting For The Punchline” was selected by Alex to end the second set on Sunday.
The six-piece had one more surprise in store to close the night as “Gone” was followed by “Take The Skinheads Bowling” to form the evening’s encore. The Camper Van Beethoven (CVB) cover sung by Schnier had been shelved since October 18, 2018 — a span of 245 shows. CVB were a NorCal band who called San Francisco home for a stretch making “Take The Skinheads Bowling” yet another location-fitting choice.
