As reported, moe. broke out “Hi & Lo” on October 20, 2023 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver for the first time since guitarist Chuck Garvey suffered a stroke in 2021. The veteran jam act posted pro-shot video of the Denver “Hi & Lo” filmed by Volume.com.

“Hi & Lo” was debuted by moe. on April 16, 1998 at Wetlands Preserve in New York City. The band performed at the famed and since-shuttered New York City nightclub that evening under the name “Monkeys On Ecstacy.” moe. also premiered “Big World” and “Again & Again” at the same show. Studio versions of all three songs appeared on the group’s Tin Cans & Car Tires record which was released in September of 1998.

The Chuck Garvey-penned “Hi & Lo” had been missing in action since October 22, 2021. moe. busted out the song to kick off their second set in Denver on October 20, 2023. The show was the sextet’s first of two at the Ogden and saw the band joined by Andy Frasco and U.N. guitarist Shawn Eckels for an encore featuring covers of The Band’s “Ophelia” and Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” Another rarity came late in the second set when moe. dusted off their take on “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots Pt. 1,” the title track from The Flaming Lips’ 2002 studio album.
