moe. Busts Out Long-Lost Original At Intimate New Orleans Concert

Upstate New York jam act moe. kicked off a series of three shows in New Orleans at Le Petit Theatre on Thursday before they play the much larger Civic Theatre with Turkuaz on Friday and Saturday. Last night’s show featured a handful of surprises and plenty of jams.

moe. began Thursday’s first set with an inventive “Crab Eyes” > “Threw It All Away” > “Crab Eyes” sequence. “Queen Of Everything” came next before the band ended the opening stanza with “Mar-DeMa” > “George” > “Time Ed.” The biggest surprise of the night was found right at the start of the second set. After much prodding from fans, moe. dusted off the long-lost original “ATL” for the first and only other time since the Al Schnier-penned song’s debut at Summer Camp ’12.

After “Annihilation Blues” and the Jim Loughlin-sung “Don’t Wanna Be,” the band brought the second set to a close with “Rainshine” > “Rebubula” > “Four” > “Rebubula.” moe. had a few more treats in store for the encore as they played rarity (though not this year) “Johnny Lineup” and the 2017 debut of the geographically-appropriate “House Of The Rising Sun.”
