New Album Summer Of Fear Out October 20 / Four Week U.S. Tour To Be Announced Soon

All these summer experiences culminated into an album that tracks the depravity that Robinson lived with over the summer of ’07. The album, aptly titled Summer of Fear, is the culmination of countless hours spent in an eight-track studio, producing cosmic jam sessions, which eventually gave way to dicey club dates that often ended in fist fights and broken glass. The album includes a revolving cast of collaborators that helped Robinson work out the kinks in his skewed pop hooks and melancholic melodies. These musical friends include Grizzly Bear members (drummer Christopher Bear and multi-instrumentalist/producer Chris Taylor) who worked on Robinson’s self-titled solo disc several winters ago — the winter before the fear set in. As acclaimed as Robinson’s debut was when it finally received a proper pressing in 2008, the effort was meant to be a glorified demo, a proper introduction to Robinson’s solo direction after the dissolution of his long-running band, Jackson Plastic.
TV on the Radio‘s Kyp Malone — a close friend of Robinson’s since 2005 — helped bottle Robinson’s bruised hymns, ramping up the tension in such standout tracks as “Death by Dust,” “Summer of Fear pt. 2,” “The Sound” and the 11 minute cut “More Than a Mess.” Since they both Malone and Robinson have a tendency toward a generally and hilariously doom stricken worldview, Malone understood what Robinson was going for with his redemption songs.
Summer of Fear will be released October 20 on Saddle Creek Records. Tour dates will be announced shortly.
