Michael Stipe performances have been few and far between since R.E.M. broke up in 2011. However, the longtime Democratic supporter will come out of semi-retirement on Friday to perform with Jason Isbell and an unnamed “special guest” at a get-out-the-vote concert for Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign in Pittsburgh.

Fans can sign up for tickets via the Mobilize platform. The final event time and location within Pittsburgh will be announced to confirmed guests only.

Both Stipe and Isbell previously pledged their support to the Harris’ campaign. Michael Stipe appeared at a meet and greet for the Vice President held in New York City last month, while Jason Isbell performed at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

Jason Isbell inducted R.E.M. into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame on June 13, 2024. Isbell covered “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” at the ceremony after previously recording R.E.M. songs “Nightswimming” and “Driver 8” for his Georgia Blue covers album he released after Joe Biden won Georgia in the 2020 presidential election. R.E.M. reunited onstage for the first time in 16 years at the gala to perform “Losing My Religion.”
