On Saturday night, the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City hosted the A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s: An Evening of Comedy & Music to Benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation. The evening featured a performance by Dave Matthews who was joined on stage by the event’s host – actor and guitarist Michael J. Fox.
Matthews began his set by performing “Satellite,” followed by an unfinished “Don’t Drink The Water,” “Rye Whiskey,” “Samurai Cop” and “So Damn Lucky.” At that point he was joined by a band that according to DMBAlmanac.com also included Steve Jordan, Ray Parker Jr., Wayne Cobham, Mix Master Mike, Eddie Allen, Clifton Anderson, Ronald Khalis Bell, Clark Gayton, Isaiah Sharkey and Jamaaladeen Tacuma, for renditions of “Crush,” “You & Me” and “Ants Marching.”
At that point Fox emerged with his guitar to help out the ensemble on a cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower,” which closed out Dave’s set. Video of Fox sitting-in with Matthews and the collective was posted by ChesterCopperpot5 and captured by Wharf Rat, watch below:
