Metallica returned as musical guests on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night. The band performed “Battery,” a track from Master Of Puppets, an album released 35 years ago yesterday.

Master Of Puppets is Metallica’s third studio album and includes such beloved classics as “Welcome Home (Santitarium),” “Orion,” “Battery” and the title track. “Battery” opens the LP.

“[Master Of Puppets] had such an impact it was added to the National Recording Registry at the Library Of Congress,” host Stephen Colbert noted in introducing Metallica. The band assembled remotely to film their “Battery” performance.
