Matt Sweeney & Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy Share ‘My Blue Suit’ Single & Announce June 2021 Concerts

Matt Sweeney and Bonnie “Prince” Billy (Will Oldham) unveiled “My Blue Suit,” the latest single from their forthcoming collaborative Superwolves album along with an accompanying video. Sweeney and Oldham also confirmed their first tour together since 2014.

The pair will begin a series of June socially distanced outdoor concerts at Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur, California on June 7 and 8. From there, Sweeney and Oldham perform at Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma, California on June 10 and at Dry Gulch Ranch in Malibu, California on June 13. Tickets go on sale today at 12 p.m. PT via Eventbrite (Big Sur 1, Big Sur 2, Sonoma, Malibu).

Superwolves, the duo’s sophomore studio album and first since Superwolf in 2005, arrives digitally on April 30 via Drag City with physical releases to follow on June 18. “My Blue Suit” features Sweeney on acoustic guitar and Oldham on vocals.

The pair tapped Geoff McFetridge to create the “My Blue Suit” video. “I started this video by painting. The work I created, in response to the song, was large scale figures I could use in scenes filmed on camera,” McFetridge explained. “All the images in the film are done in camera, there are no digital effects. The graphic sequences were done with paintings wrapped around a garbage can placed on a Techniques 1200 turntable. The tools used to create the effects were knives, glue, paint and tape.”
