Marcus Rezak announced a new EP, Truth In Sound, featuring members of the Trey Anastasio Band and more, set for release on April 29 via Color Red. The Denver-based guitarist previewed the record with the single, “Light of the Moon,” and launched a Kickstarter campaign to support the album.

Rezak hooked up with TAB drummer Russ Lawton, bassist Tony Markellis and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski when they backed his Grateful Dead tribute collective at the storied Nectars in Burlington, Vermont in November 2019. The quartet forged an instant chemistry and Rezak invited the TAB members along with world percussionist and tabla player Kaylan Patak to record some new material he had in the works at Tank Recording Studio in Burlington with studio owner/operator Ben Collette, who has served as audio engineer for Trey Anastasio and Phish since 2004, at the helm.

“Recording with Marcus for his new album Truth in Sound felt like we had been playing together for years,” Lawton said of the sessions, “cool songs with deep grooves, just the way I like it,” he added.

The lead single, “Light Of The Moon,” was inspired by actual events. “The story is inspired by the times we find ourselves in the light of the moon,” Rezak said of the song in a statement, “who we are with, where we are, and what we remember in those special moments.”
