Mapache returns with Roscoe’s Dream, a new studio album set for release on June 10 via Innovative Leisure/Calico Discos. The duo featuring Sam Blasucci and Clay Finch previewed the set today by unveiling its opening track and lead single, “I Love My Dog.”
The follow-up to the pair’s 2021 covers collection, 3, takes its name and inspiration from Mapache’s 14-year-old Boston Terrier Roscoe. Blasucci and Finch once again tapped longtime collaborator Dan Horne to produce Roscoe’s Dream. The 18-track set was recorded at Horne’s Lone Palm Studio facility with contributors including Farmer Dave Scher (Beachwood Sparks).

“As much an easygoing trip with Gram Parsons into the desert as a mad dash with the Grateful Dead away from the law, Roscoe’s Dream is the purest distillation yet of the distinct Mapache sound,” noted a press release. The album features a mix of “diverse” originals and such covers as Bo Diddley’s “Diana” and Gabby Pahinui’s “Kaua‘i Beauty.”
Fittingly, Mapache selected “I Love My Dog” as the first taste of an album guided by the spirit of Roscoe. The song featuring the gorgeous harmonies for which the duo is known honors the pair’s relationship with their Boston Terrier and arrived with a Gibb Matthews-directed video.
