On June 9, The Magpie Salute will issue their self-titled debut album. The band featuring Black Crowes alumni Rich Robinson, Marc Ford and Sven Pipien has today released the LP’s lone original song.

“Omission” features The Magpie Salute’s John Hogg. “Symbolically, it’s something that is just ours,” Robinson told Rolling Stone about the original. “It just was one of those things that was so organic, and it turned out great.” Rich also addressed what The Magpie Salute will play on their upcoming tour. We’re going to be changing set lists every night,” Robinson said. “We’re learning about 100 songs to start with. There’ll be a lot of Crowes material, a lot of solo material, different covers, maybe new songs. It’s just something that’s going to keep growing and changing as we move along.”

The Magpie Salute’s new album contains 10 tracks. In addition to “Omission,” the band offers interpretations of The Black Crowes’ “What Is Home” and “Wiser Time,” and cover songs by Delaney and Bonnie (“Comin’ Home”), Bobby Hutcherson (“Goin’ Down South”), War (“War Drums”), Pink Floyd (“Fearless”), the Faces (“Glad and Sorry”), Bob Marley (“Time Will Tell”) and the traditional “Ain’t No More Cane.”
