The Madison Square Garden Company is looking to change the way that people experience concerts with the announcement of the MSG Sphere. The new 18,000 seat technologically-advanced arena, which is set to open in Las Vegas in 2020, will feature beamforming audio technology, high-speed internet and a futuristic dome design that will utilize 190,000 linear feet of LED lighting.
According to an article in the USA Today “the company is aiming to transform the way audiences experience concerts and events with features that include Internet at each seat, bass pumped through the floorboards and screens that stretch across the ceiling.” MSG has also partnered with German company Holoplot, who has developed ground-breaking audio technology that “sends sound directly to a specific location instead of blasting it over speakers spread through a venue.”
The MSG Sphere is set to break ground later this year at a location near the Sands’ Venetian and Palazzo complex, with plans to open an additional location in London.
