For the past two summers the Made In America festival has taken place in Philadelphia over Labor Day Weekend. According to a report from the L.A. Times the festival may be held in Los Angeles this summer. It isn’t known whether the L.A. event would be in addition to a Philadelphia one or would replace the East Coast installment.

Representatives from the city of L.A. are currently in talks with Made In America organizers Live Nation to bring the event to Grand Park and surrounding areas in front of and around City Hall. Papers obtained by KPCC list a capacity of 50,000 for the L.A. event, which would be held August 30 and 31. Once made aware of the plans, L.A. Councilman Jose Huizar filed a motion asking for any permits pertaining to Made In America be held up until his office is briefed on the plans. “When you’re talking about a proposed event of this magnitude, with 50,000 (people) expected, multiple-day street closures, beer and for-profit ticket sales at a public park, it is imperative that we have an open, inclusive dialogue in ensuring it’s a good fit for the neighborhood and if it is, that concerns are mitigated well in advance,” Huizar said in a statement to KPCC.

Pearl Jam, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Phoenix and Nine Inch Nails are among the acts who have played past Made In America fests.
