Little Feat Goes Unplugged With Trey Hensley In Knoxville

Little Feat have been breaking up shows of their recently launched Last Farewell Tour with acoustic sets. The legendary band was joined by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist Trey Hensley for the unplugged segment and final song of their Monday night concert in Knoxville.

Little Feat drew upon material from the ’70s (“All That You Dream,” “Long Distance Love,” “Time Loves A Hero,” “The Fan”), ’80s (“Let It Roll,” “Hate To Lose Your Lovin'”) and ’90s (“Representing The Mambo,” “That’s Her, She’s Mine”), along with a year-old song (“Midnight Flight”), to form the setlist for their career-spanning first set at the Tennessee Theatre.

The second set began with the five-song acoustic segment featuring Trey Hensley. The Nashville-based musician accompanied Little Feat on classics “Cajun Girl” and “Willin’.” Hensley also lent a hand on covers of Allen Toussaint’s “Everything I Do Gonna Be Funky,” Muddy Waters’ “Long Distance Call” and The Fraternity Of Man’s “Don’t Bogart Me.”

Little Feat returned to the Allen Toussaint songbook for “On Your Way Down” to get the electric portion of the second set underway. The group then looked to their 1973 album Dixie Chicken to play “Two Trains,” which was trailed by a medley of “Spanish Moon” and “Skin It Back.” Little Feat went on to pair “Lafayette Railroad” and the beloved title track from Dixie Chicken before closing the frame with “Fat Man In The Bathtub.”

Trey Hensley was back in the mix for the evening’s encore. Hensley teamed with Little Feat on acoustic guitar to wrap the show with a rousing “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now.”
