Next month, the world gets its first look at a long-in-the-making film that chronicles the great untold story of legendary rock band Little Feat's +50-year history. Little Feat: The Documentary will have its world premiere at The Wilma Theatre in Missoula, Montana on Saturday, February 21 as part of the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival.
The Dude himself, actor Jeff Bridges, narrates the Jesse Lauter-directed documentary. Lauter, whose previous directorial credits include Tedeschi Trucks Band: Live From The Fox Oakland and Learning To Live Together: The Return Of Mad Dogs & Englishman, was tapped by Little Feat co-founding keyboardist Bill Payne to helm the film.
Never-before-seen archival footage and performances are featured in Little Feat: The Documentary. Additionally, the film includes new interviews from Little Feat friends Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Lyle Lovett, Van Dyke Parks and members of the Grateful Dead, The Doobie Brothers and Phish.
“The focus of this documentary is on the work, telling our story from our self-titled debut through our most recent records and tours,” explained the band in an announcement of the documentary. “It’s a tale about the grind, the craft, and the alchemy… and how we’ve managed to keep this thing going for more than a half century!”
Tickets for the world premiere are on sale now. More special screenings will be announced soon. Eventually, Little Feat: The Documentary will be available to stream.
Little Feat will open their The Last Farewell Tour in April. Bill Payne told Rolling Stone the tour is expected to last several years. Scroll below for currently confirmed dates.
