Watch Grahame Lesh Join Little Feat For ‘Shakedown Street,’ ‘Franklin’s Tower’ & More

Little Feat welcomed Grahame Lesh to the stage for a multi-song sit-in during the band’s concert at the Fox Theater in Oakland on Monday night. Lesh teamed with the band for performances of Grateful Dead classics and a string of Little Feat favorites.

The show in Oakland was part of Little Feat’s The Last Farewell Tour, a multi-year excursion to mark the end of the group’s touring career. Lesh’s appearance continues a long musical lineage connecting the Grateful Dead and Little Feat.

Grahame’s father, Phil Lesh, was a founding member and bassist of the Grateful Dead. The bassist recruited Little Feat keyboardist Bill Payne and guitarist Paul Barrere to join his fledgling Phil Lesh & Friends project for tours in 1999 and 2000.

Grahame Lesh made his first appearance of the night at the end of the first set, when he guided the band through “Shakedown Street.” Little Feat hadn’t covered the Grateful Dead favorite since October 26, 2024 as per Setlist.FM.

Grahame Lesh wasn’t the only special guest to join Little Feat in Oakland. Singer Miko Marks was also among the musicians who sat in during the performance. Both Marks and Lesh came out during the acoustic interlude that opened the second set for “Willin’.” Lesh took a solo on his acoustic guitar before Marks belted out the final verse of the song.

After Little Feat returned to their electric setup, percussionist Sam Clayton led his bandmates through a cover of Little Walter’s “Mellow Down Easy” featuring guests Justin Phipps and Cyrus Wright. Grahame Lesh then reemerged for “Spanish Moon.” Lesh handled lead vocals on the ensuing “Franklin’s Tower,” a Little Feat debut.

Miko Marks was back to augment Little Feat and Grahame Lesh on an extended version of “Dixie Chicken” that included a portion of “Tennessee Jed” within. Both guests also contributed to the “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” finale.
