Leonard Cohen 1934 – 2016

Legendary singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen has died at the age of 82. The news of his passing was confirmed by his representatives.
Cohen was born on September 21, 1934 in Montreal. He released his first album, Songs Of Leonard Cohen, in 1967 and built a career around many acclaimed original songs. Cohen wrote such revered compositions as “Who By Fire,” “So Long, Marianne,” “Bird On The Wire,” “If It Be Your Will,” “Suzanne,” “Tower Of Song,” “I’m Your Man,” “Everybody Knows” and the often covered “Hallelujah.”
Last month Cohen released his 14th album You Want It Darker. In a recent interview the decorated artist revealed he was “ready to die.” A statement from his representatives follows:
It is with profound sorrow we report that legendary poet, songwriter and artist, Leonard Cohen has passed away.
We have lost one of music’s most revered and prolific visionaries.
A memorial will take place in Los Angeles at a later date. The family requests privacy during their time of grief.
